Hennessey Resurrection: Frankenstein’s Monster of Speed

To the real petrol head, the name Hennessey would send chills down your spine; it is a name associated with the pursuit of speed, power and ultimate performance. Going well back about a decade Hennessey released the Venom, which at one point held the world’s fastest top speed record of 267 mph. Fast forward to 2017 and Hennessey released the Ford Velociraptor, a highly tuned, highly modified and highly powerful Ford Raptor pickup (which to this day is still one of my most favourite Pick Up Trucks ever made).

Now, they’ve returned with a behemoth of a monster. They’ve taken the already almighty and all-powerful Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE and unleashed and fused something that probably dates back to the books of dark magic.

Hennessey has called it the Ressurection, and it is based on the stock ZL1 1LE and pretty much retunes everything there is. The stock engine which was the old LT4 6.2 litre V8 has been replaced with the one used in the Corvette ZR1, a 755 bhp supercharged LT5 6.2 litre V8 that produces a jaw-dropping and face smacking 1,200 bhp and over 1,000-pound ft of torque. What’s even scarier is all this power is sent to the rear wheels, making this monster the ultimate burnout machine, fortunately, customers will have two options for the gearbox. Either a six-speed manual, which I would probably avoid or the ten-speed automatic gearbox which has the upgraded clutch packs and torque converter.

As you can imagine, with all this power, speed and acceleration should be of no challenge for this thing. You’re right, 0-62 mph is achieved in under 2.3 seconds which is faster than the Bugatti Chiron, Koenigsegg Jesko and the Porsche 911 GT2 RS—making this a serious contender and competitor with not just muscle cars but hypercars as well. The quarter-mile is achieved in 9.3 seconds, and with a long enough road, 220 mph top speed can be performed. With only 24 being built and costing around £200,000 each. The Resurrection is an expensive and rare piece of engineering.

The other leading contender that directly competes with the Hennessey Resurrection is the Dodge Demon, which too is another drag racing monster. Get ready our upcoming Battle Royale of the drag racing, speed going and road breaking contenders – The Hennessey Resurrection and the Dodge Demon.
